Admission at Pitzer College

Pitzer College admits about 17% of applicants, which makes it highly selective. Admission is holistic: four years of transcript and course rigor first, then essays and activities, then recommendations and test scores. A strong transcript with rigor in your intended field and specific, personal essays put a well-prepared applicant in range.

GCC applicants: international curricula (IB, American Diploma with APs, A-levels) are read in their own terms. English proficiency tests are usually waived for English-medium schools; check the university's waiver rule. Saudi students on a Ministry scholarship should confirm the programme is on the approved list before applying Early Decision.

   At Pitzer, five core values distinguish our approach to education: social responsibility, intercultural understanding, interdisciplinary learning, student engagement, and environmental sustainability. As agents of change, our students utilize these values to create solutions to our world's challenges. Please answer only one of the following prompts: 1. Reflecting on your involvement throughout high school or within the community, how have you engaged with one of Pitzer's core values? 2. Describe what you are looking for from your college experience and why Pitzer would be a good fit for you.

2. Background and community short essay (optional)250 words

   As a mission-driven institution, we value and celebrate the synergy created by our differences and similarities. We welcome you to write about distinctive aspects of your background, identity, or personal interests that you would bring to Pitzer, and how you plan to engage in our community.
